The Oval Space
This former medical factory gives home to cutting edge arts in the shadow of a gas works.
The Oval Space.
The club and music scene has gone through a number of evolutions throughout the years, being given sanctuary by a number of venues that are often troubled or shuttered by the powers that be. Bethnel Green’s Oval Space is another in a storied line of such party spaces.
The open warehouse was converted from a disused medical factory and now hosts myriad artistic events ranging from still and video installations to DJs and band performances. Another of the site’s draws is the industrial majesty of the gas holders which loom large behind the space, giving the location a secretive, underground feel.
The site pulls hundreds of fashionable young attendees to most of its events and stands as a beacon of the performing arts scene in the area.
