We’re excited to roll out a new video feature here on the Atlas Obscura called “So There I Was…”

Adventures Among AntsOver the coming weeks and months, we’re going to be asking people who have had crazy adventures in the world’s most curious and obscure places to tell us about them. We couldn’t be more excited to introduce our first “So There I Was…” video, starring Mark Moffett, a man who has been to more amazing places and seen more amazing things than almost anyone on earth. Dubbed the “Indiana Jones of entomology” by National Geographic, Mark has been awarded the highest honors in the field of exploration, including the 2006 Lowell Thomas Medal, from the Explorers Club, and the sixth Roy Chapman Andrews Society Distinguished Explorer Award (2008). His new book, Adventures Among Ants: A Global Safari with a Cast of Trillions is a tremendously fun and fascinating collection of tales about his adventures tracking down the world’s most interesting critters.
