International UFO Museum and Research Center
A museum dedicated to the alleged Roswell Incident
Category
Prior to the opening of the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, New Mexico in 1992, the city did not really show any signs of being home to the famous "incident." After being sought after by various UFO researchers, Lt. Walter Haut (who worked for the military in Roswell in 1947) had the idea of building the museum as an educational center for the public. Little did he know, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world were waiting for this paranormal mecca. Today, curious tourists and researchers have helped the city grow as a popular attraction, leaving the city it with no other choice than to accept the reputation as epicenter of extraterrestrials.
The educational enterprise does not try to convince its visitors, but rather urges them to ask questions and do research in their research center. The museum features tons of information regarding the "Roswell Incident" as well as alleged crop circles and abductions. Models of aliens, UFOs, "autopsy" reports and documentaries can be found here, depicting what some believe to be the ultimate truth.
Whether you are a believer or a non-believer, the museum is an interesting site and has allowed the once unknown town of Roswell to grow into a world known site and location for vast of amount of information regarding a handful of alleged happenings. Across the street, one can find the world's first UFO-themed restaurant.

Curious tourists and researchers have helped the city grow as a popular attraction, leaving the city it with no other choice than to accept the reputation as epicenter of extraterrestrials. It is a very interesting approach.

The marker in google maps is way way off. The museum is about 55 miles to the south.

One of the places I have always wanted to visit is Roswell. There's still so many unanswered questions for me, but even just for it's theme the town would be a worthwhile visit. Rick

roswell is such a cool place to visit. I am so interested in UFO's. I am not sure if they exist or not but it is so cool to hear the stories behind it.

The folks at the Museum are very excited about a new exhibit, a replica of the Mayan sarcophagus lid found in Palenque, Mexico, that supposedly shows a man blasting off in a spaceship. The Office Supplies Birmingham are also getting unique they should also be kept in this museum

If you're coming from Carlsbad Caverns and just passing through Roswell, it's worth a stop because there's nothing else to see in Roswell or elsewhere on the Estacado, but it's certainly not worth any sort of detour. Proactol E Voucher

Hmm this just sounds like a way to take advantage of people that believe in the crash at area 51. From what I've read it's pretty cheesy and isn't worth the trip. Plus there is not else much to do in the town and who knows about some kind of alien radiation or spores.

This museum is quite intesting but some of my friends were complaining that the place is quite small as compared to the world class museums. Despite having such difiencies the museum is still popular in the area. I think improvement is required in the part of development.

I don't really believe in Aliens but I do appreciate all the hard work that the folks put into all of the research.

The only attraction in Roswell NM is the UFO Museum, there is nothing else touristy. There are a few museums and a zoo in Albuquerque, and October is a good month for hot air balloon ride there.
