Bakken Museum of Electro-Magnetism
A museum dedicated to the role of electricity in life
Category Museums and Collections, Unique Collections, Inspired Inventions, Electrical Oddities
The Bakken Museum was founded in 1975 by Earl E. Bakken, inventor of the first transistorized cardiac pacemaker, and includes a great variety of electricity-related objects. Inside the museum can be found Tesla Coils, Wimshurst Machines, spark generators and an Electrarium, where "visitors can see a black-ghost knife fish, a mormyrid, an electric eel and several transparent knife fish, all of which use electricity in some way." Be on the lookout for the planetary orrery driven by corona discharge and the terrific Frankenstein diorama.
