Caboodle Ranch
Thirty-acre non-profit center dedicated to rescuing abandoned cats
Category Eccentric Homes
The story of Caboodle Ranch begins in 2003 with a father and son living in Jacksonville, Florida. The son eventually moved out on his own but found he couldn't take his pet cat to the new place and so asked his dad to care for her.
Before long the cat, named Pepper, was pregnant and after the birth of six kittens, Craig Grant found he enjoyed the personalities of the new litter so much he didn't want to give them away. He began caring for stray cats in the surrounding area but complaints from the neighbors in the small condo where he lived eventually convinced him to seek some land in the country. Finding property in nearby Lee, Craig began work on his dream of a safe place for abandoned cats.
Seven years after the story began with one cat, Craig now works full-time caring for nearly 500 abandoned cats at his home. Each cat is either neutered or spayed, receives vet appointments and is fed daily. The animals are allowed to roam freely on the property and are allowed to stay for their entire natural life.
Visitors and volunteers are welcome to the ranch and learn more about life with 500 cats. A recent episode for Animal Planet was filmed on-site.

I've been to Caboodle Ranch and it is nothing like shown in this video. The majority of cats were suffering, the place was filthy, and the smell was wretched. -

Caboodle Ranch is a wonderful place. I've been there as a volunteer twice this past year, 2011, and am going back in January 2012. It is not a hoarding situation, and the Animal Planet piece has been shown all over the world. Improvements are being made all the time. Cats are being chipped, fences fortified, and two Grand Pyrenees dogs are being trained to guard against coyotes. Cats live free. Cages are for sick cats. It is clean, cats are well fed and cared for. I am an animal lover and would not recommend a poorly run facility. I come from NJ to visit and help care for the animals. I'll do what I can to make it better, not to destroy it. -
Animal Planet did film for the new show Must Love Cats but the segment was pulled from the line-up. They must have saw something there while filming that didn't seem right. I received a call from a representative from Animal Planet's show Animal Hoarders interested in filming them for that show instead.

This place is not what it appears to be on their website. It's a glorified hoarding situation. Read the sad stories of what people have seen there at www.facebook.com/caboodleranch.savethekitties
