It Wasn't Meant To End Like This, an enormous mechanical digger that looks like it has buried itself under 300 tons of rubble and trash, is the latest installation at Sculpture by the Sea festival in Aarhus, Denmark, from the Glue Society.

"[The work] has a subdued, still quality, despite its physical size," said the Glue Society's James Dive. It looks like the digger, which itself weighs about 25 tons, or 50,000 pounds, is attempting to hide itself from general view.

Sculpture by the Sea, the Australian sculpture festival, has recently added Aarhus to its roster of visiting cities. Other work by the Glue Society collective can be viewed at its professional website, www.gluesociety.com. The concept for Sculpture by the Sea was the culmination of many years of one individual hoping to create a major free public arts event for the people of Sydney.
