Medizinhistorisches Museum

Featuring Zürich's only authentic 14th-century plague doctor's uniform!

Category Medical Museums

An extensive collection of antique medical implements, complete with cringe-inducing contemporary illustrations of the implements in use. The surgery-stitch sampler is gorgeous and the plague doctor's uniform, displayed on a mannequin, is genuinely terrifying.

Periodic special exhibitions combine the dry and esoteric - "A history of nursing in Zürich, the Alps in medicine" - with the delightfully sensational - "Death is Near"!, and "Art or Madness?" - a history of childhood maladies called "Born Above the Grave".
