In true Scandinavian style, the Radisson is a stylish yet subtle mistress, with more quirks than normally found in rival international hotel brands. While art prints of The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Mick’n’Keith caught my eye in the lobby, it’s the building’s spacious atrium of aircraft-hangar proportions that is its most arresting feature. Previous winner of the Scottish Business Hotel of the Year 2008 and numerous design awards when it first opened in 2003, it remains a style icon.

As I have never seen it elsewhere, I’m a big fan of its gigantic calculator shaped elevator buttons.
