Surviving the War of 1812, the 1821 Yellow Fever Epidemic, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War of 1898, and World War I, this apothecary, started by Quaker Edward Stabler, has stood in the same location and has been largely unaltered since 1972.

It has served the likes of George Washington and Robert E. Lee, as well as countless residents of Alexandria in its over 200 years of existence. It is now a museum, complete with original furnishings, patent medicines, potions and herbs.
