Eyegore's Curiosities and Monster Museum
Enjoy a tour of oddities and makeshift monsters at this souvenir store with an offbeat sense of humor.
A pandemic-era road trip has turned into a labor of love for shop owners Matt and Julie Alford. After traveling cross-country in 2020, they fell in love with the town of Cawker City and its roadside attraction, the World’s Largest Ball of Twine. In 2021, they moved from Richmond Virginia to Cawker City, and opened Eyegore’s Curiosities and Monster Museum next door to the ball.
The museum offers a chance to show off the couple’s sense of humor and handiwork. Visitors will be given a tour of the curiosities, including some that may even be real. Many of the treasures are best shared by the proprietors, but visitors can see a real Frankenstein skeleton, marvel at a baby alien who was recovered from a flying saucer crash, meet Count Cluckula the world’s only vampire chicken, and more.
This entertaining little gift shop also features vintage candies, unusual soda pop flavors, ice cream, and other strange gifts. The shop is also a terrific location to pick up World’s Largest Ball of Twine merchandise, including some free twine that visitors can use to add to the ball’s circumference.
