Additional info

Pricing & Trip Deposit

The trip price is $4,430 per adult and $3,325 per child (ages 5–12) in shared accommodations (adjoining or shared rooms). If anyone in the party needs a room of their own, a single-room supplement of $715 applies. Please see "Rooming Options for Families" below for additional details.

A deposit of $250 per person is required to reserve your spot on the trip. The balance is due 90 days prior to departure.

Rooming Options for Families

Your rooming configuration will depend on the number of family members you're traveling with. Parties of 2 (i.e., one adult and one child) typically share a room, unless individual rooms are requested (at a supplement of $715 per person, subject to availability). Parties of 3 (e.g., two parents and one child) typically have two rooms—one shared by two people in the party and one single room (subject to a supplement of $715)—that are connected or adjoining whenever possible. Larger parties will typically share multiple rooms—two rooms for a party of 4, three rooms for a party of 5 or 6, etc. The single supplement of $715 applies for anyone needing their own, unshared room.

If you have questions or a particular rooming preference, please don't hesitate to contact us. Please note that unshared, single rooms and adjoining or connecting rooms are subject to hotel availability.

Visa Requirements

A visa is required for Egypt. You may secure one in advance via the eVisa application process. Please check the specific requirements for your country of origin for travel to Egypt and any countries passed through in transit. A passport is required for international travel. Egypt requires that your passport be valid for at least six months after your entry into Egypt.

Activity Level - Moderate

While this trip is rated at moderate difficulty, it's quite an active trip and Egypt can be quite hot even in winter. Travelers should feel comfortable walking up to three hours each day, with lots of time spent moving around and on your feet. You should be comfortable walking on both flat and uneven ground, as well as stairs, sand, and rocky terrain. The archaeological sites, while not difficult to access, require walking in hot weather, navigating sandy and rocky terrain, with stairs and narrow and/or low-ceilinged tunnel entrances.

Arrival & Departure - Important

Please note that the trip begins in Cairo and ends in Luxor. You should plan to arrive at Cairo International Airport no later than 2 p.m. on Day 1, and depart Luxor International Airport any time on Day 7. (There are no activities scheduled on Day 7 other than breakfast and checkout from the hotel.)

If you plan to arrive early on Day 1 or depart late on Day 7 and would like early check-in or late check-out at the hotel, please contact us for assistance.

Airport transfers are only provided if arriving & departing on the trip dates, or if pre/post arrangements have been made through Atlas Obscura.
