Fleeting Wonders: A Python in a Pile of Jeans
Vintage shopping is an unpredictable experience. Sometimes nothing takes your fancy, sometimes you find a great ensemble for dirt cheap. And sometimes you find an eight-foot python.
As the Miami Herald reports, a customer rummaging through clothes at a flea market in Homestead, Florida on Sunday morning was shocked to discover a Burmese python nestled between stacks of folded jeans. The snake, which weighed around 40 pounds, seemed to have slithered into the market and curled up for a snooze after chowing down on a big meal.
The customer alerted the booth owner, who called the fire department. Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue Lt. Scott Mullen arrived on the scene, gently grabbed the snake from its snuggly, fashion-forward pit, and hauled it off to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation. The Herald notes that “no clothes were ruined” during the extraction.
