Watch a Man Play ‘Sandstorm’ on a Potato
Who says you can’t shred a 1999 club classic on a tuberous ocarina?
Perhaps your head is still throbbing from the ritualistic champagne-drinking and loud music-hearing that New Year’s Eve usually entails. But it’s worth popping some ibuprofen just to watch this musical wizard, who impressively covers the late-night club classic “Sandstorm” on an ocarina (a type of wind instrument). Amazingly, he plays the song—by the Finnish DJ Darude—using an instrument he created with just a potato and a handful of utensils.
The creator of this inventive ocarina is one Toni Patanen (aka Pupsi), who makes his own ocarinas out of Helsinki (though none are quite like this potato). Watch the full video below to see how Patanen carves an extraordinary instrument from a pantry staple. And then eats it.
