It's about time! This tour we mean. New York City is one of the birthplaces of American timekeeping, and on this walking tour through Midtown Manhattan we're uncovering the city's beautiful, historic clocks, from the overlooked to the opulent.
We'll visit some of the city's most incredible timepieces from the horological monuments of Times Square to the jaw-dropping clocks of Grand Central Terminal. Other stops on the tour include the GE Building, the Diamond District, the Helmsley Building, one of New York's last remaining post clocks, and even some of Midtown's other non-clock-related curiosities.
Finally, the tour will culminate in a special visit to the Horological Society of New York, America's oldest watchmaking guild. Along the way, we'll be encouraging you to share your best clock and time puns. Because let's FACE it, that's HANDS down, just a great TIME!
Stops on our tour of New York clocks may include:
- The famous brass and opal clock in Grand Central Terminal's main atrium.
- The Glory of Commerce clock outside of Grand Central Terminal.
- A vantage point on the Paramount Building's 4-sided tower clock, and the New Year's Ball.
- Park Avenue's Helmsley Building and its monumental clock.
- Midtown's Diamond District, and its diamond-studded watches.
- The Horological Society of New York
