A one-of-a-kind adventure to meet and greet the raptors that stalk our city. Watch a falcon feeding. Be awed by a hawk. Come face-to-face with an Eurasian Eagle-owl. This unique opportunity will allow you to meet and interact with some of the hunters of the sky.
Join Atlas Obscura and Master Falconer Rodney Stotts at his 5-acre raptor sanctuary in Laurel, Maryland, for a live demonstration of these amazing creatures, where you'll discover what it takes to become a falconer and experience holding a live bird of prey.
Stotts has been featured in numerous newspaper profiles for his work getting at-risk youths involved with the rehabilitating of injured birds of prey. Stotts works with several non-profits, including the Earth Conservation Corps, STAND Foundation, and Wings Over America.
A portion of the proceeds for this event will be donated to Rodney's Raptors and STAND Foundation.
This event is not accessible via public transportation and is located in a rural area. More information about the location will be sent to attendees several days prior to the event. Parking is available on site.
