About

Members of the American Numismatic Society make money their business, but not quite in the same way that executives over on Wall Street do.

The Numismatists (who study currency and its history) at the American Numismatics Society boast a collection of more than half a million coins and other forms of currency from around the world. The society's collection includes items from ancient Greek, Roman, and Byzantine empires as well as money from Latin America and Asia.

More modern additions to the collection include significant monetary examples from our own age. Those as interested in the study of this treasure as much as the money itself will also find a place here; in addition to hosting a library and archive, during the summer, the Numismatics Society hosts a series of seminars to promote the study and development of their specialty.
