About

Named after the the original singing cowboy, the Autry National Center celebrates all things Wild West, and while not as famous as LACMA or the Getty, has held its own as a significant keeper of intercultural history and art.

The only collection in this region dedicated to Western culture, it's serious undertaking of educating on subjects like exploring equal rights during the Civil War is given levity by installations such as “How the West was Worn by....Michael Jackson”, a look at the pop singers western influenced fashion choices.

With the six permanent exhibition areas designed by Disney's Imagineers, you'll get lost in a Hollywood portrait of the American West, where Spanish missionaries and Clint Eastwood are given equal footing in the story of our rugged beginnings.
