About
Some of Denmark's most expensive and luxurious apartments can be found in a Vejle waterfront residential building called Bølgen (The Wave), where the flats cost between €400,000 and €1,800,000.
However, it's not the price tags that has made Bølgen an iconic, award-winning landmark, but the distinctive, modern, wave-shaped design by Henning Larsen Architects. The firm got its inspiration for a 150,000 square feet apartment complex located on the hilly landscape in the area, as well as the Sydney Opera House.
The two first waves were finished in 2009. Construction was halted for a few years due to financial issues. In 2018, the remaining three waves were completed.
Each tile-clad wave rises to a height of nine stories and includes 20 individual apartments. From the largely glazed facades, visitors can enjoy the view of the Vejle Fjord to the east and the skyline of downtown Vejle to the west.
