Carroll Creek Covered Bridge
This hidden treasure provides a charming access point along the south side of Baker Park.
As Carroll Creek meanders along the southern side of Baker Park in Frederick, Maryland, it passes beneath several distinct bridges, including an iron and swinging bridge, but the most eye-catching one of all is Carroll Creek Covered Bridge.
Like a microcosmic companion to the larger covered bridges a few miles north of downtown Frederick in Thurmont and Rocky Ridge, the Carroll Creek Covered Bridge has a similar look and feel with its red-painted exterior, but it’s much smaller in width, constructed more for foot traffic rather than cars. At 40 feet in length, it’s just long enough to span Carroll Creek.
The bridge was constructed in 1965 by the City of Frederick. This picturesque passage has windows along each side and has the same general look as it did when it was first designed over 50 years ago.
