Yunnan, a province of China located in the far southwest corner of the country, has a popular of more than 45 million. It’s a huge space - more than 150,000 square miles - and densely populated for a mountainous region.

High in one of those mountains, where the difference between peaks and river valleys can measure up to 3,000 meters, is the Chair of Bod, a quirky geological oddity. At the top of a chair-lift for visitors to the area, the Chair of Bod is a large rock that is naturally shaped like a throne or chair, complete with arms and a back.
