Cinéma Nova is an alternative and unconventional approach to moviegoing. The films showcased at this cinema run the gamut. Choices can vary from the original King Kong (1933) film, to a six-hour documentary about the 1871 Commune of Paris.
The theatre operates on a volunteer basis, so hours of operation can vary. Inside, the theatre is very similar to a vintage cinema hall that creates a small, quaint environment for moviegoers. During special events, all seats are removed and the interior is transformed into a space resembling a giant living room. The setup is complete with cushions, couches, and comfy chairs for patrons. Cinéma Nova also organizes events that bring new, contemporary productions to the screen and sometimes offer open discussions after documentary showcases.
