About
An avid baker and native of Grand Isle, Vermont, Donna Sue Shaw started to offer homemade treats to the public from a shed in her front yard during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was Shaw's hope that passersby would use the shed as a place to stop and refuel as they traveled along the bike trail that traverses the island. Although she initially envisioned the bakery as a diversion, her pies were so good that it quickly became a destination in and of itself.
Shaw sources most of her ingredients locally and sells her wares on an honor system. There is no cash register, rather a paper log, Venmo QR codes, and a bird house where you can leave cash to pay for whatever you take. Along with sweet and savory pies, she sells granola, local maple syrup, cookies, scones and cakes, all made from scratch in her home kitchen.
