Haggerston Park, like Weavers Fields (see Weavers Fields entry) rose from the ashes of World War II – in this case the V2 rocket-bombed Shoreditch gasworks.
Now a beautiful nature reserve, it also has a number of football pitches and a bike track. The recently completed upgrade to Haggerston Park is a BMX track that adds a new surface to the 200 metre circuit, as well as jumps, beams and step-ups. The Hackney BMX Club runs training sessions here every Sunday morning.
