About

The Frost Entomological Museum is a hidden gem amongst bustling Pennsylvania State University. The building houses a research collection of two million specimens representing 15,000 species. Not all of these insects are on display, however, the museum gives scientists and researchers full access to their collection.

The namesake of the museum, Dr. Stuart W. Frost, was an entomologist professor at Penn State until his retirement in 1957. With a passion for bugs since from an early age, Frost continued to donate some 400,000 specimens over a total of 13 years after his retirement. Today, the primary objective of the museum is as it has been, to create a full record of insects in the eastern United States.

Update as of September 2019: The museum has plans to reopen in the near future.
