About
Choosing a good hotel is hard, and sometimes at the end of the day, you settle on a subpar place just so you can crash.
However, out of all the hotels in Amsterdam you could stay in, there's one hotel that you want to absolutely avoid.
The Hans Brinker has touted itself as the “Worst Hotel in the World,” a title that is decidedly accurate. Through an entirely ironic advertising campaign marketing themselves as the worst hotel in the world, they take a good-natured poke at their service, but they don't just stop at the clever advertisements. According to former guests, the hotel truly lives up to its advertising schtick.
The Hans Brinker Hotel makes an effort to create the most uncomfortable hotel experience possible. Dirty sheets (guaranteed to improve your immune system), crappy lockers, flooded bathrooms, and the unavoidable wafts of marijuana smoke around the place is enough to drive anyone away – on the other hand, you do get what you pay for.
Strangely enough, there seems to be some genius behind it all. The hotel, despite all of its flaws, still manages to book rooms. Part of it may be the cheap rate, but for those who know what they're getting into, (and how could you not?) a night at the Hans Brinker serves as a true test of endurance for travelers.
