About

The city officially protects this location of ancient petroglyphs, which were engraved and/or pecked by the ancestors of the now a-day Hopi and Zuni tribes.

In 2013 the site was recorded by archaeologists and volunteers. With the information forwarded into the Arizona Archives.

In October 2015, the city council awarded a contract to Flagstaff-based American Conservation Experience to design and construct sustainable trails, retaining walls, water bars, and switchback details across the site. Work was completed in November of 2015 and has made the numerous features of the park easier to access.

The new trails and improvements allow visitors to safely explore the beautiful, but extremely fragile petroglyphs that are thousands of years old. The area also features a lake and is protected from hunting. Well over 200 bird species visit the area, making it a premier bird-watching location.

Visitors can also ask to tour the Zuck Historic Ranch that archeologists believe is over 100 years old.
