About

As it dominates the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum's Centre Hall, this vast concert pipe organ cannot be missed.

The organ was originally commissioned as part of the Glasgow International Exhibition in 1901. It was then moved to become the central feature at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. The organ was constructed by Lewis & Co. and contains 2889 organ pipes.

Since the Kelvingrove gallery is not a cathedral, the music played on the organ is more varied. Weekday and Saturday recitals are more light and popular in nature, while Sunday recitals are more classical. The gallery also holds the world record for daily organ recitals.
