About
Placed daily in front of Cycle Portland-Bike Tours and Rentals is a life-sized sculpture known as "The Naked Cyclist." The sculpture is a symbol of the 10–15,000 annual participants of Portland's World Naked Bike Ride.
The sculpture was part of a set of seven commissioned in 2018 by advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy, in collaboration with local design studio HouseSpecial, as part of a promotional campaign for Portland tourism called “The Portlanders.” The life-sized statues themselves were sculpted by local artists Scott Foster and Nico Grossas.
Most of the sculptures went to the Portland International Airport after their nationwide tour, however, the cyclist was deemed to be too racy for the airport to display. Thus, it now adorns Old Town Portland to entertain tourists and residents alike.
