Located in Freeport, Illinois, are what might be the luckiest Little League teams in the world. Each day the seven- to eight-year-old baseball players head out to Little Cubs Field, or from their perspective, a Wrigley Field fit just for them.
Little Cubs Field is a highly accurate one-third-scale replica of Wrigley Field about 100 miles west of Chicago. It has replicated at least 35 features of Wrigley Field, including the bricks, ivy, marquee, scoreboard, Harry Caray statue, contour of the brick walls, and so on. While to an adult it may look like a miniature Wrigley Field, to a seven-year-old, it must feel as if they have just grown magically into fully sized baseball players.
The field is a non-profit organization and is free to use. It can be rented for parties, games, reunions, weddings, and other family and community events.
