Logical Unsanity Books & Miscellaneous Phantasmagoria
This rickety old shed hides a trove of secondhand literary treasures.
While driving down Morgan Terrace in leafy Bardon, a Brisbane suburb, you would be forgiven for mistaking this secondhand bookstore for your average rickety old shed. Well, it is indeed a rickety old shed, but it is certainly not average—in fact, it’s actually an undiscovered gem. The old shed is a throwback from a more honest past.
Open 24 hours a day, everyone from working professionals to night owls will find their next great read among the piles of pre-loved papers. Lined from dusty floor to creaky ceiling with secondhand books, tomes, and treasures, this store’s honesty system is a vestige of a more trusting time and a symbol of a close-knit community.
The store’s collection is constantly changing as more books are sold or donated every day. A suggested price is written on the inside of the cover, but it is up to you how much you can or want to pay. Just place your chosen donation in the honesty box at the back of the shed.
The owners are professional buyers and sellers of antique books, operating the shed as a labor of love. They also take donations, a great way to make space for all your new additions. Be sure to sign the guestbook on your way out.
Know Before You Go
The Logical Unsanity Bookshed is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There is plenty of streetside parking in the area. Bring a torch if you are short-sighted.
