During World War II, Marshal Georgy Zhukov of the Soviet Union lived with his family at this modest home in Ulaanbaatar. At that time he aided the Mongolian military in planning their fight against the Japanese Kwantung Army.
Due to his success in battle, Mongolia is forever grateful and has converted his house into a small museum. A statue of Zhukov is located in a square on the west side of the museum.
