Preserving old trains that had been neglected for years is the main goal of this museum located in one of the busiest metro stations in Madrid. Most of the trains on display at the museum were rescued and fully renovated in recent years. The Madrid metro has made a significant effort to rehabilitate a selection of its vintage trains, which were in operation between 1919 and 1965.

In 1919, Madrid opened its first metro line from Sol to Cuatro Caminos. It was inaugurated on October 17, 1919, by King Alfonso XIII and opened to the public later that month. Some of the trains that serviced the citizens of Madrid on that very first day can be seen in this museum.

The museum is also home to around 100 subway-specific items and videos from a bygone such as old metro signs and tools.
