About

The Museum of Stanisław Wyspiarski celebrates one of Poland's favorite artists. His work was versatile: as a painter, he specialized in creating Art Nouveau paintings using the pastel technique (Self-portrait with his wife, 1904).

As an architect, he also became famous for creating, among other things, polychromes for the Franciscan church in Krakow (1897). He also gained fame as the creator of dramas about the history and prospects of Polish society under the partitions (Wesele, 1901; Wyzwolenie, 1903; November Night, 1904).

Wyspiański's achievements as a playwright have contributed to the fact that he is sometimes called the fourth Polish bard. Wyspiański's literary works were adapted for the screen by artists such as Andrzej Wajda; his achievements were also commemorated many times.
