About

The Port Denison Fishermen’s Memorial is a poignant tribute to the lives lost at sea, prominently situated at Leander Point in Port Denison, Western Australia. This memorial features an obelisk that was erected in the late 1800s following the tragic loss of the schooner Swan in 1869. The monument serves as a somber reminder of the perils faced by fishermen and commemorates those who have perished while at sea.

Visitors to the Fishermen's Memorial Lookout are greeted with spectacular panoramic views. From this vantage point, one can observe the Marina, the mouth of the Irwin River, and South Beach, making it not only a site of historical significance but also a place of natural beauty.

Port Denison is a picturesque coastal town located in the Mid West region of Western Australia, approximately 359 kilometers north of Perth. Port Denison is known for its vibrant fishing industry and picturesque marina. The town's economy historically revolved around its role as a major center for rock lobster fishing, and it continues to support one of the state's largest rock lobster fishing fleets.
