On the outer fringe of Northeast you’ll find a vibrant art studio that puts those in the actual Northeast Art District to shame.
Owner/artist Lauri Svedberg’s peppy personality easily lives up to the glittering pizzazz of her home studio, which is a maze of hand painted embellishments, murals, and twinkling mosaics. Her window-lined atrium gallery is ringed with jewel-encrusted mixed media works, metallic mannequins, and hand-painted furniture bursting with bright colors, almost too pretty to sit on. Svedberg’s property is a work of art from the outside as well, with paneled raw wood planks in a modern design style, unconventionally shaped elements, titled skylights, and exotic landscaping.
Svedberg was always smiling and eager to talk to friends and strangers alike about her art and her home, which has been an ongoing project for her since she bought the property in 1979. Unfortunately, she sold the house and moved to Arizona.
While there be sure to check out the garage door for a glimpse of Svedberg’s huge wolf mural.
