Located in Goatstown in the suburbs of South Dublin close to St. Kilian's German School and not far from the edge of University College Dublin’s campus lies Harlech House.
Originally built in 1798, the house was bought and redesigned in 1993 by its immigrant Welsh owner who named Harlech House after a town in north Wales famous for its castle. The dragon being a symbol of the Wales flag was the inspiration for the fantastic gates.
The gates are elaborately made consisting of the dragon and its mesh wings. They were designed and made by Anthony and Simon Robinson and are composed of stainless steel.
On the other side of the dragon gates is a secret underground passage leading from the front gate to the main house. Although a private residence the gates can be viewed from the publicly accessible residential road, Harlech Downs.
