The Dragon Trail
Seven dragon statues—including one that breathes real fire—are scattered throughout the streets of Krakow.
The Dragon Trail was launched on November 22, 2023, when the first of six very cute dragon figurines were installed in various points throughout Krakow. They were designed by Andrzej Mleczko and Edward Lutczyn, famous Krakow cartoonists.
Dragons perched in non-accidental places, and their presence usually heralds an interesting story, legend, or the memory of an original person. That is why it is worth discovering their secret along with a commemorative photo. Each figurine is only 35 to 50 centimeters tall. Although construction has been slow, city officials hope to have around 20 dragons on the trail
Curiously, the seventh dragon on the trail is a much older—and somewhat more formidable-looking—mythical creature. The Wawel Dragon at Plac Na Groblach, which appears to guard the nearby Wawel Castle, was installed in 1972. in contrast to the diminuative dragons, this bronze beast stands six meters tall and breathes real fire.
