About
Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir is an iconic temple of Lord Ganesh in Pune. It was established more than a hundred years ago and is a divine shrine for pilgrims.
Around the vicinity of the temple, in the busy square, there have been installed a number of artistically-designed streetlamps. These beautiful lamps depict four mice holding a large Modak. As per Hindu traditions, Lord Ganesh’s divine mount is a mouse and his favorite food is Modak, a sweet dumpling dish popular in Indian culture.
These street lamps are a thoughtful creation that add to the aesthetic beauty of the square around the temple. The design is in keeping with the sacred ambiance of the area. They enhance the aesthetic beauty of the temple’s vicinity.
