About

This small monument, with several graves, markers, and a flagpole was designed to commemorate American Revolution soldiers who died in a makeshift hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Many were buried on the nearby hillside.

There are supposedly more than 500 soldiers buried nearby in unmarked graves in an area that was once outside the town but is now a residential neighborhood. One soldier was reburied in the tomb around 1931 during the monument's construction. Several more people were reburied here on Memorial Day 1996 after remains were discovered during a construction project.

The city typically hosts a ceremony here on Memorial Day, and there are other small events occasionally held at the site.
