Umit & Son is a man’s lifelong passion project based on his love of cinema, especially movies shot and projected on 16mm film. Practically speaking, you can come here to purchase VHS tapes, vinyl records, film cameras, and get various film-related digitization services. There is also a small  15-seat screening room in the back of the store which can be booked for private screenings.

The store itself holds a huge archive of various media, including 16mm reels, VHS, and cassette tapes, vinyl records, movie posters, and memorabilia, all piled high and seemingly everywhere. There are also quite a few pieces of vintage filmmaking, editing, and projection equipment inside, but the real treat is getting to spend some time chatting with Ümit. He began his projectionist training as a child at his family’s movie theater and keeps the knowledge and joy of film alive in this store, attracting filmmakers and cinephiles alike.
