About
The Valentin Karlstadt Museum is serious business, even though it's based on the legacies of two comedians.
Placed in one tower of the Isartor (Isar gate) which is a former part of the city walls of Munich, this museum is dedicated to the German comedians Karl Valentin and Liesl Karlstadt.
The Museum is home to curiosities from the careers of the two comedians but also to other interesting and funny exhibits. Examples are a clock that runs backwards, a toothpick for winter (including fur trimming) and a device to read between the lines. Signs and informations are in German, but it is possible to book guided tours for groups also in English.
A highlight of the visit is also the little coffee place in the uppermost floor of the tower called the "Turmstüberl" (or tower snuggery).
