About

Strolling along the Animas River in Durango, Colorado, one may notice a sign with the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, pointing towards a tiny storefront. Or perhaps it will be the rock garden and chess board table that catches one's attention. Maybe you’ll be looking across the river when your dog grabs a stick from the canine lending library. Whatever it is, you are sure to find your way to White Rabbit Books & Curiosities.

Built into the back corner of a larger building, White Rabbit can feel a bit like an outdoor closet for book lovers. Despite the small size of the shop, visitors will get lost in the stacks upon stacks of books.

The wide selection, which spills out the front door,  includes most of the classics, cookbooks, children’s pop-ups, and more. Along with the wide selection of literature, one can also find local handmade crafts for purchase.

Know Before You Go

Visitors may park in the small lot in front of the building, which is shared with other businesses. It may also be worth your while to park elsewhere and meander along the beautiful Animas River trail, which passes other businesses, public art, and informative signs.
