Wolf Song of Alaska

Founded in 1988, Wolf Song of Alaska is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer organization based in Eagle River, Alaska, that works to protect the wolf, which is regarded as a major symbol in myth, legend, folklore, religion, and art. To do this, the group educates the public with an interactive museum and outreach programs.

“Wolf Song of Alaska’s world-class website and education programs have greatly impacted the general public’s knowledge about the wolf, other wild canids, and other predators in the wild,” the group’s website, which has been visited more than one million times, boasts. One part of the group’s public education program is an internationally-acclaimed traveling exhibit based in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. The exhibit has been seen by more than 2.3 million visitors in museums in major cities across North America.

As of this writing in December 2010, the Wolf Song of Alaska’s facilities are undergoing a serious expansion and renovation. The new facilities, once complete, will include a visitor center, museum, lecture hall, theater, predator and prey habitats, observation facilities, and a veterinary care center.

Update as of March 2022: The facility is currently not open to the public.
