About
Located on the property of the Missouri Quilt Museum, the world's largest spool of thread was unveiled in 2018 and measures 22 feet tall and eight feet in diameter.
There are over one million yards of thread on the spool and growing. The spool was created by a local craftsman and was the endeavor of a local family and Aurifill, an Italian cotton company. The giant spool and initial thread were unveiled in September 2018.
The town of Hamilton itself has often been referred to as the Disneyland of Quilting. Visitors are encouraged to add more thread to the spool to continue adding to its length.
