About
At the intersection of Troy, Appletree, and Museum streets in Dothan, Alabama, you can find the world's smallest city block. This little triangle of land features a stop sign, yield sign, and street signs. A granite marker at the site reads as follows: "The smallest block in the world is marked by Camellia Garden Club May 1, 1964. Erected by Southside Granite Co."
So what's the deal with this bite-sized block? In 1964, it was given the title by the "Ripley's Believe It or Not" Once it held the title, the Camellia Garden Club of Dothan honored the site with a small marker. The block originally measured about 20 feet by 20 feet by 9 feet, It even had a building on it at one point. Now the block is even smaller than it once was. The change wasn't officially made to defend the title, but it would certainly be hard to find a smaller block than this.
Dothan might be better known as the “Peanut Capital of the World.”
