About
In the forest outside of Warsaw you can experience and see the remains of a former Jewish sanatorium.
The sanatorium opened in the early 20th century to treat Jewish patients. The horrors of World War II and the Holocaust brought tragedy to the treatment center.
In August of 1942, troops supervised by Germans rounded up the patients and doctors and shot them. The survivors were shipped off to a death camp. The facilities were then used as a location for Nazi childcare and a place for the Germanization of Polish children.
The facility returned to its original purpose after the war ended, though with a focus on treating children and young adults. It also specialized in treating neuropsychiatric disorders linked with drug use until it closed in the 1900s.
Today, graffiti is proof that some people come here to hang out in the abandoned place. The location become infamous because a controversial viral video was captured there in 2015.
