Andrew Avery is a writer and historian, originally from Crestwood, Kentucky. His first travel memory is of his father telling him it was illegal to not drink tea at tea time in England. Previously, he has published pieces on the history of cocktails, Sherlock Holmes, and Antarctic exploration. He earned a Ph.D in History from the University of Kansas. He lives in Brooklyn.
