Safety City
A miniature city within a city, complete with traffic signs, signals, and streets to teach Baltimore's youth traffic safety laws.
This entry is a stub
Safety City is an outdoor facility in Baltimore’s Druid Hill Park designed to teach Baltimore’s youth the finer points of how to be safe pedestrians and cyclists, while learning how to successfully navigate what can be a dangerous streetscape in Charm City.
The facility serves preschool and K-5 children (ages 3-10) and includes working street lights, signs, and scaled-down city streets and buildings. There is even a tiny harbor and model of Fort McHenry.
In 2017, Safety City hosted its inaugural Safety City Day as an outreach effort to engage the local community and build interest in its program.
Know Before You Go
Safety City is open by appointment for supervised school groups, daycare centers, and youth organizations on weekdays from mid-April to mid-October.
