Video Wonder: The Democratic National Convention, For the First Time in Color!
Whistles, drumbeats, trumpets, crowds, cowboys, Gulf Oil! Get psyched for the Democratic National Convention, reported for the first time in color!
Check out the NBC News promo for the 1968 convention, which took place from August 26 to 29 and celebrated nominations for Hubert Humphrey and Edmund Musk as President and Vice President.
Despite the fun and carefree video, 1968 was a tough year. Presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy had been assassinated in June, and at the event in Chicago, demonstrators and rioting brought in the local police and Illinois National Guard.
So, not quite as cheerful as it seems. But at least it’s in color!
