About

Set in the south side of the railway station in Brest, this museum has a huge open air section with more than 50 locomotives, from steam to diesel engine and electric. Most of them come from the Soviet era, but if you look closely you will find at least two German steam machines, probably forgotten or lost during World War II.

The museum opened in 2002, and it has become a popular destination because of its proximity to the Brest Fortress. Its collection of trains spans the 20th century. Highlights include the Moscow–Brest Express, a comfortable passenger train from 1903, complete with with shower rooms, to more utilitarian trains from the 1970s and 80s.

Visitors can climb and enter many of the trains—some of them require climbing up ladders. There is also a small interior museum with memorabilia, models, and postcards.
